Calm & Prepared

What is included?

Mental health and emotional wellbeing support

Compassionate, preventative support throughout pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period, helping you feel emotionally prepared, supported and understood every step of the way.

Proactive support during pregnancy

We will work together to build and maintain your emotional wellbeing, recognising and responding to any wobbles as they arise, before they have the chance to become overwhelming.

Antenatal preparation

Personalised preparation for labour, birth and parenthood, covering the key areas of traditional antenatal education with an additional focus on your mental health, emotional wellbeing and individual needs.

Support during labour and birth

Practical and emotional doula support during labour and birth, with on-call availability from 38 weeks, so you know consistent, trusted support is ready when you need it.

Postnatal support

Up to four weeks of postnatal care following birth, combining emotional and mental health support with practical doula care. This includes the opportunity to talk through and debrief your labour and birth experience.

A consistent, reliable presence

Because I will have supported you throughout pregnancy, I will understand you, your needs and your early warning signs. This continuity means we can recognise quickly when you are not feeling like yourself and respond early, helping to reduce the risk of more significant postnatal mental health difficulties.

Who is it for?

This support is for pregnant women and their partners who are used to holding everything together, but feel understandably anxious about the emotional transition into parenthood. You may have experienced anxiety, depression or burnout in the past, or simply be worried about losing your identity, not coping, or developing postnatal depression after your baby arrives. Starting from around 12–20 weeks of pregnancy, we can work together to protect your mental wellbeing, build confidence and help you feel supported throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. Support is available across Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire, North Hertfordshire and North Essex.

  • Support may include emotional reassurance, helping you stay calm and focused, suggesting comfort measures and positions, supporting communication with healthcare professionals, involving your partner, and helping create the birth experience you are hoping for wherever possible.

  • Together we'll identify your strengths, coping strategies, potential triggers and early warning signs. We'll create practical plans for navigating challenges and respond quickly if difficulties begin to emerge.

  • Alongside doula support, I bring extensive experience working in mental health services. The service is specifically designed around protecting emotional wellbeing before, during and after birth.
